Born in Medellín, Colombia, in 1932, Maestro Fernando Botero became one of the world's most celebrated artists, renowned for creating "Boterismo"—a signature style characterized by exaggerated volume, sensual forms, and vibrant color inspired by Renaissance masters and his Latin American roots. After gaining early recognition in Bogotá during the early 1950s and studying art in Madrid and Florence, Botero spent over six decades building an international legacy that bridged local Colombian themes with a universal artistic language. By the time of his passing on September 15, 2023, at age 91 in Monaco, he had achieved global acclaim as an iconic master with unprecedented numbers of museum exhibitions and publications dedicated to his work.
